Free Horseback Riding Lessons…
The Hogan Family Foundation, through its Rancho St. Francis Program, is offering appointees to CASA a wonderful opportunity to learn about and ride horses. The goal of the Program is to share with disadvantaged children the satisfaction that comes from creating a positive relationship with animals through supportive human role models.  Being engaged in a fun and positive activity helps children discover hidden talents and develop beneficial skills to nurture their growing minds and bodies.

Space permitting, the Hogan Family Foundation is offering your CASA child  a one-hour weekly lesson, currently scheduled on Saturdays at 11:30 am, lasting for a period of four consecutive weeks.  For those children who are particularly enthused, the Program will offer four additional weekly lessons to further enhance their skills and build confidence.  Each child will be instructed in basic grooming and tacking, followed by a 30-minute riding lesson in Rancho St. Francis’ private, large arena.  Lessons are guided by ranch staff personnel and supported by their team of volunteers.  The children are encouraged to participate in the care of the horses following the lesson which develops their equine skills and enriches the entire experience.

Rancho St. Francis will provide each child with a safety-helmet and cowboy boots which they are required to wear.  Please have your child wear long pants and socks.  Lessons are subject to cancellation due to weather conditions or other special ranch events, but make-up lessons will be provided.

The Program is at no-charge to active CASA volunteers assigned a CASA child residing in Ventura County.   CASA is the point of contact to enroll in the Program and Diane Hultgren is volunteering to coordinate this Program for CASA.  To make arrangements and obtain additional information, please contact Diane at diane.hultgren@gmail.com

We encourage you to participate in this wonderful equine experience being offered by the Hogan Family Foundation.
